San Francisco True Light Baptist Church is a church family in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset committed to worshiping Christ, proclaiming the gospel, making disciples, and caring for one another.
Our Mission
We desire to be rooted in God’s Word, grow in the love of Christ, and faithfully bear witness to the gospel in our community.
We exist to know, enjoy, and express the love of Jesus: love God, love people, and serve people.
Church History Timeline
Gatherings began at Dr. Hong-En Wu’s home
The church’s early brothers and sisters began meeting at 1419 22nd Avenue in San Francisco. Dr. Wu generously offered space in his home for worship and fellowship, where around thirty believers gathered to serve the Lord together.
The church was formally established
As attendance grew, the congregation prayed for God’s provision. Cornerstone Baptist Church offered a meeting place near Judah St. and 48th Ave. The church was formally established with 68 charter members, and retired Pastor Henry Mu was invited to serve as Honorary Pastor.
Property acquired and dedication service held
Through Cornerstone’s help and the faithful offerings of church members, the church purchased the present property. After renovations, a dedication service was held on October 2, 2005, with Dr. Thomas Tang preaching and 306 members and guests attending.
