Church Constitution

Our Constitution And Convictions

This document gathers the faith, mission, governance, and covenant life we hold together as a church serving in truth and love.

Approved: June 21, 2009

From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Ephesians 4:16

Preface

True Light Baptist Church is a local church made up of people saved by grace and called to follow Jesus Christ. We receive Scripture as our highest authority for faith and life, and we seek to build up the body of Christ through worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and mission.

Article 1: Name

The name of this church is True Light Baptist Church.

Article 2: Purpose of the Constitution

This constitution describes the church’s foundation of faith, ministry direction, governance, and shared responsibilities so that the church may serve with clarity, order, and love.

Article 3: Mission of the Church

The church is entrusted to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, make disciples, nurture believers in truth, and bear witness to God’s grace in the community and among the nations.

Article 4: Statement of Faith

We believe in the triune God, the authority of Scripture, the incarnation, atoning death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and salvation by God’s grace through faith in Christ. The church is called to obey the Great Commission, observe baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and await the return of Christ.

Article 5: Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees manages church property, finances, and legal responsibilities according to the constitution and the trust of the congregation, serving with faithfulness, transparency, and accountability.

Article 6: Board of Deacons

The Board of Deacons serves alongside the pastors, cares for the spiritual and practical needs of the church, supports ministry, and builds up the congregation with a servant-hearted posture.

Article 7: Church Covenant

Members commit, by God’s grace, to love one another, pray for one another, worship faithfully, give and serve generously, and live as gospel witnesses in their homes, workplaces, and communities.

Article 8: Amendments

Any amendment to this constitution should be proposed, discussed, and approved according to the church’s established process so that the church may move forward in truth, unity, and good order.
